I am WITH YOUUUUUU!! I would never THINK to buy store-brand desserts in the U.S. Here, all day every day. I will say, the French don't really know how to do a proper cookie. But everything else, they got! xx
I know. Our supermarket desserts here in the U.S. are pretty sad. BTW: My favorite cookie in France are the Bastogne. They’re lovely brown-sugary/ginger cookies, but you have to have them with coffee or tea, as they’re crunchy! I also won’t say “no” to a Petit Ecolier. But other than that, the packaged cookies aren’t a draw!
Thank you for giving me permission. I remember standing in the supermarket in France looking at the desserts, but not buying anything because, who goes to France to buy pastry in a supermarket?
France resident here (le Var) - and I couldn't agree more! I'm always mesmerized at the supermarket desert shelves. My current fave, though, is Picard's bio galette des rois. Its buttery goodness rivals ones I've gotten at boulangeries!
Oh man! Picard takes it all to a whole other level! Their desserts are divine. Thanks for telling us, as others here need to give Picard a look as well!
Good to hear that someone living in France concurs! Thanks for the note.
That chocolate mousse! We could not believe how good it was. Quelle surprise!
I know. It looks so cheap (and it is cheap, in price). But it's pretty danged good!

Enjoy! And if you find one you love, let me know!
Thank you, Wini! We’re visiting France in May and intend to enjoy a few of your favorites!
Oh, May is a great time to visit France! Enjoy.
“…Bake” Ha, good one.

I have to send my husband into Picard, otherwise I would never get past the dessert section!🤣
The Carrefour Tartelette au Citron de Sicilie seems beyond wonderful!
It's shockingly good. Worth going to France just for that! :)
